About ICSM-Club
ICSM-Club is a civil society organization established in 2008 to merge superconductivity and magnetism communities in Turkey. It is a sister organization of Turkish Society of Condensed Matter and Materials Physics which was established in 1991 by Turkish PhD students in UK working in the field of solid state and material physics. Since then it has maintained its status by organizing regular meetings, seminars, and workshops to promote physics and support physicists for participation to conferences and schools etc.
The club favors an objective concept for conferences. The concept is to provide an excellent educational forum for everyone involved in superconductivity and/or magnetism through educational courses, meeting with the well established world class experts, the state of the art lectures, “how to do it” workshops, training sessions, and presentations of current research.
Mission:
To be pre-eminent scientific and educational society for researchers in both fundamental and applied science of superconductivity and/or magnetism in order to improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of potential young scientists.
Main Goal:
To provide means for facilitating research activities, joint international projects and communication at the international level in addition to provide mechanisms to facilitate international exchange including disseminating information regarding associated meetings.
We have currently over 200 members at this stage and it is now open to international membership.
For membership, you can send an e-mail to icsm-club@ankara.edu.tr
General Information
Venue
The Conference will be held at Hotel Porto Bello & SPA in their Convention & Exhibition Halls with modern state-of-art techniques. It has a capacity to accommodate about 1500 participants; it is within short walking distances to nearby hotels with different variety.
Conference Dates
April 25-30 2010
Spring School & Educational Courses Dates
April 20-25 2010
Language
The official Language of the Conference and Spring School is English. However, simultaneous translations to major languages can be possible.
Exhibition
Exhibitors will have the chance to meet with the delegates as well as taking part among the display of recent works on superconductivity & magnetism, magnetic materials and related phenomena.
Sponsorship and Opportunities
We are delighted to offer private companies and governmental firms with opportunities to be a part of ICSM2010. There are several outstanding options available for exhibitors to be a sponsor at the conference and spring school, giving them maximum exposure to a highly targeted international audience of delegates.
Time Zones
Turkey is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and seven hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
Easy Access
Antalya is within easy reach from all over the world. There are direct connections to Antalya from about 300 destinations worldwide, and almost all major international airlines flies to Antalya. In addition, Turkish Airlines provides direct flights from 80 destinations around the world. The new international terminal at Antalya Airport can handle up to 20 million passengers annually and features with high Standard automated baggage handling and security.
Visa Requirements
All participants may need to apply for a visa and a valid passport is a must to enter Turkey. Citizens of some countries may obtain visa before arrival and some may obtain it at the airport upon arrival. The most updated visa information can be received from the web-site of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For further information please contact the nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate to check the visa regulations.
If you need an invitation letter for support of your application, please contact with the conference secretariat.
Banks and Currency Exchange
In Turkey the currency is the New Turkish Lira (YTL). Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the airport as well as at the private exchange offices throughout the city which are open from 8:30 to 20:00 hrs. Local banks, where Traveler’s cheques and Euro-cheques can be cashed, serve between 8:30 and 17:00 hrs. All major credit cards (such as Visa, MasterCard) are widely accepted in most of the Turkish restaurants, shops etc. Most shops accept euro and dollar in cash but with lower rates.
Electricity
The electric current is 220V AC with a frequency of 50 Hertz. European standard plugs with two round pins are used.
Shopping in Antalya
Being once called the city of magical colors and fragrances, Antalya is a paradise for shoppers. For a gift to your loved ones, one can find a very large variation of carpets, jewels; gold, leather goods etc. while wandering through the old monuments or one can visit the city’s modern shopping malls where Turkish brand goods can be found. The shops are open from 8:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Saturday. The Bazaars open their gates at 8:00 and close at 19:00. Big shopping malls open from 10:00 to 22:00 seven days a week. Shops do not close for lunch. You may get what you dream off in Antalya, but bargaining may be essential in small shops
Accommodation in Antalya
Accommodation in Antalya is wide range from most luxury to very economical. We have specially discount rates for participants at hotels with a special contract. Rates will be announced later on our web-site. Hotel Porto Bello will mainly be occupied with Session Chairs, Distinguished Guests, Invited Speakers and Senior Scientists with outstanding contributions to technical sessions of the conference & spring school.
Climate
April is spring& beginning of summer season in Antalya and is evaluated as one of the most pleasant seasons. Average temperatures vary between 22ºC – 28ºC. Sea water temperature and Swimming are generally found to be pleasure for participants from countries with colder climate.
Insurance
The registration fees do not include the insurance of participants against personal accidents, sickness, cancellations by any party, theft, loss or damage to personal possessions. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects. In addition to this measure, we the organizers will help participants in any way we can within our capacity to prevent any unexpected and unpleasant situation.
